Tools and Manufacturing Marks

The use of tools to force entry may be used in some forms of criminal activity, such as breaking and entering. Depending on how frequently they were used in the past, these tools, like bolt croppers, will leave more or less distinctive marks on the surface of the material they were used to cut or damage at the scene. In the event that the device is recuperated from a thought culprit, it could be contrasted and instrument marks tracked down on things at the location of the crime. An expert must evaluate the evidential significance of these comparison results.​ 

Our forensic scientists can:

• Re-evaluate the evidential significance of the analytical findings and case notes of the forensic scientist who initially examined the recovered tool(s) and tool marks in question.  

• Report on the evidential significance of the findings from any necessary reexamination of the recovered tools and damaged items from the scene—either in the laboratory or on-site.
