 Shoe Prints and Footwear Marks Comparison 

Footwear marks are common at crime scenes, and if they are found and properly preserved, they can be compared to the shoes that were found on the person or people who are suspected of committing a particular crime. The type of shoes or boots being compared, as well as how often and by whom they were worn in the past, will all affect the evidential significance of these comparisons. An independent forensic scientist should reevaluate the evidential significance of the prosecution's comparison results because footwear matching is a very complicated science.​
